F253, a 2002 E-One/Frieghtliner, is a 1000/1250 pumper serves as our crash/rescue truck.
This multi-purpose vehicle carries many specialized tools for rescue and
fire suppression and eliminates the need to bring an extra piece
of apparatus to the scene of an MVA since it is a pumper. This unit is also 3rd due on all structure
fires. On fire calls, the crash truck
functions just like a normal fire truck. This unit is also used as back up
for a 3rd EMS
call. Many people are familiar with one particular piece of equipment that
we carry on this truck: the "jaws of life". This
is a hydraulic rescue tool used to extricate or "free"
people trapped in auto accidents.
The following is a small list of what this truck carries:
- Set of Holmatro hydraulic extrication equipment (JAWS) Gas powered hydraulic pump, cutter, spreader, ram, 30' of hydraulic lines & accessories
- Onboard Hannay hydraulic hose reel, with 100' of hose
- Onboard Hannay electric cord reel, with 200' of cord
- High pressure Mat Jack airbags
- Low pressure airbags
- 10kw AMPS PTO generator
- 4 telescoping 750 watt halogen scene lights
- 2 portable halogen lights w/2 - 100' extension cord reels & junction boxes
- 12000 lb. Warn electric winch in front bumper
- Cribbing, wedges, and step blocks
- Turnout gear
- SCBA Air-Packs
- 4 4500 lb bottles w/regulator for operating air bags/air tools
- Complete set of hand tools and wrenches
- Set of 1/2" & 3/8" chains
- Stokes rescue basket
- Deck gun with portable monitor capability
- Misc rescue items: Air tools, 4 flashlights, halligan tools, crash axe, pry bars, crow bars, bolt cutters, bottle jacks, Porta-Power, reciprocating saw, tarps, utility rope, rescue rope set, life jackets, chain saw, Sta-Dry, shovels, traffic safety vests, scene tape, traffic cones, flares, safety glasses, topography maps for use in ground search & rescue, life vests for water rescue.
- Misc fire items: (1) booster reel, (2) 10' sections of 6" hard suction hose, (2) 10' sections of 2 1/2" hard suction hose, 600' of 2 1/2" supply hose, (4) 200' 1 3/4" pre-connects w/nozzles, 2 fire extinguishers, extension, roof, attic & combination ladders, pick & flat head axes, 2 pike poles.
