Training
The department has its own requirements for fire and EMS training that must be met through out the year. We hold our own classes in house, several times a year so that all members may have a chance to participate and learn. Firemen are not required to become an EMT, just as EMT's are not required to fight fires. We are however one organization that does both, so all members are required to be familiar with both aspects and help on all calls.
Required for all members is the following:
- CPR
- EVOC class 3
- In House Fire/Rescue Training Classes
As a minimum we strongly encourage all fire & rescue members to obtain and maintain certification in the following areas :
- EMT
- Firefighter I & II
- Haz-Mat Awareness, Haz-Mat Operations
- Vehicle Extrication
- Farm Machinery Extrication
- BTLS
*Additionally we encourage all EMT's to upgrade their certifications to include:
- EMT - Enhanced
- EMT - Intermediate
- Paramedic
All ALS members are encouraged to obtain Advanced BTLS, ACLS, and PALS.
